Euro 2020: Trippier back Kane to start firing for England

Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer is convinced that England captain Harry Kane will smash his Premier League goals record if he seals a move to Manchester City this summer.

A report by Sky Sports on Monday afternoon claimed that the Premier League title holders had tabled a £100million offer for the Tottenham Hotspur star.

However, sources inside City and Tottenham indicated to that no bid was on the table, and Spurs are determined to keep hold of their star man this summer, despite Kane's willingness to leave the club and the north Londoners still being without a new head coach.

But if Spurs do decide to sell and Kane completes a big-money move to the Etihad Stadium this summer, Shearer is confident that the England striker will break his own long-standing Premier League record of 260 goals, with Kane currently 96 behind the former Blackburn Rovers ace.

"Sweating, (about Kane breaking his record) no," Shearer told UMM. "Do I think he’ll do it? He probably will.

"I’ve had it for twenty-odd years so it’ll go one day, and if it goes then why not to him (Harry Kane), he’s a nice guy.

"He’ll absolutely obliterate it if he goes to City."

Considering Kane, if he did make the move north, would be surrounded by creative architects, such as Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, it is certainly possible that he would surpass Shearer's record.

Last month, Kane admitted that a conversation would be needed with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about his future, hinting that he was jealous not to be playing in the UEFA Champions League - something Spurs will not be doing once again next term.

"I think so. I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club," Kane said during an interview with former Manchester United man Gary Neville. "Yeah, like you say, I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments. (
