EPL: Arteta to offload six high-profile players

Arsenal will offload six high-profile players from the club this summer as they prepare to spend big on new players.

Goalkeeper, Bernd Leno is top on the list of players who are up for sale, according to Football.London.

This follows a miserable season by Mikel Arteta’s side, with the club sitting in ninth place in the Premier League table and likely to miss out on European football for the first time in over 25 years.

The Gunners board are prepared to spend big in an ‘unprecedented’ transfer window and will trim a bloated squad and raise funds.

Football.London reports that Arteta has now put six players on the chopping block all of whom the club hope to receive sizeable fees for.

The other players in Arteta’s list include, right-back Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac.

Arsenal are expected to sell Torreira and Guendouzi for at least £15m and will get a decent fee for Maitland-Niles after his spell at West Brom. Dailypost

EPL: Mikel Arteta gives injury updates on Partey, Smith Rowe ahead of Man Utd clash

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has injury concerns over Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe, following their 3-1 win at Southampton on Tuesday night.

The Gunners climbed into the top half of the Premier League with the victory.

Goals from Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette cancelled out Stuart Armstrong’s early opener, to move Arteta’s men into eighth place.

While there were plenty of positives to take, there were two big injury concerns for Arteta with Manchester United on the horizon.

Both Partey and Smith Rowe were forced off in the second half and will now face a race to be fit for Saturday’s clash at the Emirates.

“He [Smith Rowe] was injured for the FA Cup game and we knew that probably today he could not play the whole game.

“He had some muscular discomfort and had to come off again.

“We had five players in the FA Cup that couldn’t play, [Kieran Tierney] was one of them and Thomas you could see not manage 60 minutes. We don’t know [if it was cramp]… but it was a struggle,” Arteta said after the game. Dailypost

EPL: Mikel Arteta reveals why Arsenal failed to beat Southampton at Emirates

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has insisted that the Gunners failed to beat Southampton at the Emirates because his players had good opportunities that they did not utilize.

Arteta also said that Arsenal came out strong against Southampton but went down to ten men and had a mountain to climb again.

Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang and Theo Walcott ensured Arsenal and Southampton played 1-1 at Emirates Stadium.

“When you can’t win it you don’t lose it. We went in with ten men against a really good side, I have to say that,” Arteta told Amazon Prime.

“In these moments, you have to take a point,” he added.

“I was disappointed with how we conceded the first goal as it was their first action that they really created.

“We both pressed really high, and we sustained attacks with good moments and good opportunities that we did not score.

“We came out really strong, but we went down to ten men and had a mountain to climb again.”

Arsenal’s next game is against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday. Dailypost

Aubameyang can be dropped – Mikel Arteta warns

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that “no one is undroppable”, but backed his captain to overcome his recent dip in form.

Aubameyang has scored only two Premier League goals all season.

The 31-year-old striker is not expected to feature in Arsenal’s last Europa League Group B match at Dundalk on Thursday night, but when asked whether he would keep playing him in the League no matter what, Arteta replied: “No one is undroppable at the end of the day.

“You have to find the right players to win football matches, but we cannot forget what Auba has done for this club and what he’s done in recent months, not years ago.

“And as well because I see how he is training, how he is behaving and how much he wants to turn the situation around.” Dailypost
